APPOINTMENTS:
We take great pride in our ability to honor the time reserved for you. Unfortunately, emergencies do occur which occasionally cause delays in our schedules. A patient who is uncomfortable is our immediate concern. We do allow time daily for emergencies. This helps us keep on time and guarantees you the opportunity to be seen when the need arises. If you cannot keep a scheduled appointment , we require 24 hours notice so that someone else may use your appointment time.
GET ACQUAINTED:
For your first visit, we will ask you for personal data and health background information.
This general information is designed to help us complete insurance forms of other correspondence. The health information provides a baseline history to aid us in providing quality dental care for you. Please keep us informed of any changes in your name, address, phone number, insurance policies and any changes in your general health or medications.
During your first visit , a thorough examination and cleaning (time permitting) will be performed. We will collect information such as x-rays and diagnostic models if they are needed. We evaluate the condition of you teeth, check the condition of existing restorations and dental work, thoroughly screen your gum tissues, evaluate your bite, screen for cancer, and evaluate your jaw joint. We will discuss our findings and answer any questions you may have about the state of your oral health.
Total dental health is dependent on sound teeth, healthy gums and supporting bone. Additionally, occlusion (the way your teeth fit together) has a great deal to do with the comfort and life expectancy of your teeth. Our goal is to eliminate as many problems as possible in all of these areas. We want you to enjoy the comfort of good oral health. If you work with us, you will have a healthier mouth now and in the future.
A TRUST RELATIONSHIP:
In any strong doctor-patient relationship, we find there must be complete trust between the individuals and total satisfaction with the service being provided. Therefore, if you have any questions or suggestions that something could be done differently, we welcome the opportunity to answer your questions or discuss any matters with you. Only through open communication can the best dental care be provided. We want the patient to have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of their care.
CONSERVATION OF YOUR TIME:
In the interests of conserving our patient ’s time, we will try to complete treatment in as few visits as possible and make every effort to remain on schedule. We strongly feel that our patient ’s time is valuable and you can expect us to be prompt. We do our best to make appointment times convenient for you.
INSURANCE:
As a convenience to you, our office will submit charges for services rendered to your insurance carrier, but we consider the patient primarily responsible for the account. The service provided by our office amounts to an agreement between the patient and the dentist. The insurance relationship constitutes an agreement between the carrier and the patient. There is a wide variety of dental insurance coverage offered. The type of services covered and the dollar amount assigned to it are determined by the type of plan purchased by your employer. Feel free to call us if you have any questions regarding your account or changes in your insurance. A simple phone call can prevent any misunderstanding. Also, many “PPO’s” will still reimburse a good percentage even though our office is not a participant. In other words just because we are “out of network”
should not be an obstacle in choosing us as your dentist.
If you would like to now exact insurance benefits, we can file a “pre-treatment authorization” with your insurance company. This will delay treatment but will give you the exact out of pocket figure you may require.
INFECTION CONTROL:
In these days of concern about the spread of infectious disease, we want you to know that the protection of our patients is the top priority in our office. We do everything possible to assure the sterility and safety of our working environment.
We have a commitment to you. We follow the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control, the National Institute of Health, and the American Dental Association. We continually review updates of infection control materials and techniques so that we can achieve our goals by using the newest and best methods.
Gloves and masks are always used and all of our work is performed under magnification. The polishing cups we use during cleaning are disposed of after every single use. We use other disposable products whenever possible to eliminate cross-contaminations.
We exceed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (O.S.H.A.) guidelines for infection control. All instruments and hand pieces are heat sterilized and our sterilizers are tested to ensure that sterility is maintained. During your visit, please ask us to show you the types of sterilization and infection control procedures we routinely provide all of our patients.
